FAQs

  • Why, yes! There are even games, art supplies, puppets, sand, and more! Play therapy is an evidenced based, neurobiologically informed approach of therapy when working with children, adolescents, and even families. This type of therapy is a powerful way for children to communicate their feelings, explore relationships and learn more about their world. Toys, games, art, and other creative interventions are used during play therapy to engage children in a natural and fun way as they process their experiences and build healthier, more effective ways for managing themselves. Play therapy is to kids what talk therapy is to adults. Sometimes it’s just easier to show us what’s going on.

  • Each session is unique to your child! We work to ensure the session is developmentally, neurobiologically, and emotionally appropriate for your child. The first few sessions are all about developing trust and safety - this is key! Your child wants to know if they can be themselves and if I (the therapist) am going to be myself. The relationship between me and your child is the foundational for change. The next stage of therapy is the working phase, where children begin to make changes. This stage may bring up more negative behaviors in your child for a short time - that is totally normal! Change is uncomfortable and hard, so this is where encouragement and support from you is very important. A slip in behavior can (and probably will) happen.

With children under 5, caregivers are involved in almost every session and there are regular caregiver only sessions - we've found that the most meaningful growth happens when we can support the whole family!

You might enjoy this quick read called “What Therapy Really Is” by Robyn Gobbel. At Wired to Bloom, this aligns with how we see kids!

  • Yes! I love saying yes. We adore collaborating with the super-humans (teachers) who spend their days giving back to children. After getting written permission from you, we are happy to reach out to the school to brainstorm new ways to help your child feel safe and ready to learn at school. If we feel like school based services may be more appropriate and beneficial, we would love to connect you to a school based provider.

  • It is impossible to predict exactly how long therapy will last, due to an array of factors, such as your child's presenting concerns, life circumstances (hello, 2020), caregiver involvement, financial constraints, etc. What each child and their family needs is unique as they are! Some issues are resolved quicker, while other more serious or ongoing problems may take longer.

Our job is not to “fix” your child. Our goal is to work alongside you and your child to empower you all to find the healthier ways of being. Sometimes we might help you or your child learn new skills or find new ways of approaching a problem, but the hope is to bring you closer together as a family so that moving forward, you feel more confident in facing life's challenges together.

  • We only accept Caresources (medicaid) plans only.

Insurance becomes more of an obstacle for services, so we are primarily self-pay (no insurance needed). When utilizing insurance, we are required to make a diagnosis. Insurance companies don’t take into account things like relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, developmental concerns, life transitions, personal development, or just the regular stressors of being a human (whether grown or growing). At Wired to Bloom, we want the freedom to meet you and your child where you’re at, without the constraints of a label or diagnosis.

This also translates to a therapist who spends less time calling insurances and filling out cumbersome paperwork. It means that therapists have time to pursue training and can find a work-life balance. A healthy therapist makes for a better therapist for you and your child.

  • Mentaya helps you claim your reimbursement when your counselor does not accept your insurance plan and you are paying out of pocket.

With Mentaya, you are able to view your deductible, see how much is satisfied to date, and how much reimbursement you can expect from you insurance plan. In many cases, this can be done prior to booking an appointment with us.

Once you receive your superbill (which is like a receipt for services), you log into Mentaya and submit a reimbursement claim to your insurance. Mentaya then allows you to track the status of your claim and ensures that you receive a check from your insurance company. It is up to your insurance plan to set the rate for reimbursement and every plan is a little different.
